The Mission Inn Run, a signature Riverside event and key fundraiser for the Mission Inn Foundation, has been a Southern California Tradition for over 40 years. This historic race has traditionally launched in downtown Riverside, winding through the parks, landmarks and historic neighborhoods of our town. The Mission Inn Run offers a 5K, 10K, 1/2 Marathon and Kids Events to appeal to supporters of all kinds, a classic community event with deep historic roots. 2020 represents the 43rd year of the Mission Inn Run, and with the uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, this year offers an unparalleled opportunity for the Mission Inn Run to take on a new historic approach.
This year, we’re going the “social distance” at the Mission Inn Run by going virtual! Run, race or walk through Riverside with an all new Fun Run, a new series of historic running challenges and our traditional race distances all designed to maximize the fun while staying safe. Leading up to race day, November 8th, log your run and walk times on our website to track pace and total accumulated distance. See how you stack up against your fellow participants as we post live leaderboards for all to view (optional). All participants will receive our newly designed Raincross Face Mask after registration, and Mission Inn Run 2020 T-Shirt and Finisher Medal by mail or pickup on Race Day (November 8, 2020).
To get started, register for your preferred race: Fun Run, 5K, 10K, Kids 1K or half marathon. As you run or walk, use the free RaceJoy app or log into the Mission Inn Run website to register your times, and see your results appear on our live leaderboards. New this year, we’re introducing historic run challenges! Relive historic Riverside through a series of Riverside Landmark Challenges that educate and inspire, winning real swag in the process. More details to come!
The Mission Inn Foundation preserves, interprets, and promotes the cultural heritage of the Mission Inn, Riverside, and the surrounding southern California communities through its museum services, educational programs, and outreach activities.
HISTORY
The Mission Inn Foundation was incorporated in 1976 to assist in the preservation and restoration of the Mission Inn, and originally, to manage the hotel during ownership by the City of Riverside's Redevelopment Agency. The Mission Inn Hotel & Spa is now privately owned by Duane and Kelly Roberts, and the Foundation has a unique role of operating a non-profit museum within a for-profit hotel. The Mission Inn Museum, operated by the Mission Inn Foundation, was opened in 1993, simultaneous with the reopening of the Mission Inn after seven years of extensive renovations. In addition to the museum, the Mission Inn Foundation interprets the history and significance of the Mission Inn through daily hotel tours, monthly public programs and special events, the Hands On History educational initiative, and the continued stewardship of the hotel's expansive art, artifact, and archival collections.
